About me.
Born and raised in Fruita and Loma I grew up in flower/gardening/growing industry, it became part of my roots and runs deep in my soul. My great grandmother, grandmother, mom, aunts and uncles all had/have flower shops and/or greenhouse nurseries. Most had both! As a young child my mom would arrange flowers for weddings and had a little flower shop out of our home. Later in life as a teen, she had a local garden center where Maverick in Fruita sits now. As the years passed while working alongside her my love for plants and flowers only grew. After many years away from growing and flower arranging with my elders the longing for it all to be back in my life, and the urge to carry on a family legacy was heavy on my heart. Wishing when the previous local flower shop was closing that I could take it over also knowing at that at that time it was not in my cards. Not willing to let go of the dream I held on to it way in the back of my mind.
In 2020, I guess you could say I started my journey almost by accident when I decided I wanted to start having a small seedling sale where I grew all the plants from seed. With Covid I found it difficult to sell most of the plants and so with the help of my husband and a garden rototiller we turned over the soil and planted the rest of the seedlings out into the field. My education in flower farming, regenerative farming, and flower arranging began. To say it was easy is farther from the truth than I would like to admit. It was countless hours of tending to the plants and sleepless nights in online schools soaking up as much knowledge as I could while soaking the fields during the day to water the plants. Each year I grew the seedlings my love for the flowers grew as well, eventually taking more and more rows each spring. Cutting and arranging flowers for a local business to sell only deepened into a love for all the stages of the flowers and like them growing from seed to bloom so did I, the idea and journey of opening a floral shop with American grown flowers was born in January of 2024. By February 29th of 2024 we opened our doors and will do everything we need to and will remain committed to be your local florists!
